It is my pleasure to welcome you to the International Economics Olympiad for high school students.

You are about to take part in an intellectual battle to determine who is the best. But each of you is already a winner for your country.

The world is changing constantly, becoming more complex with the rapid development of science and technology. This requires all of us to improve and advance our professional skills and abilities.

This Olympiad has undoubtedly brought together a group of highly talented and smart young people. Your courage and inventiveness, your creative ability to suggest new ideas, and your desire to change the world for the better will ensure that each of you, and thus all of us, will have a bright future.

It is rewarding that such a large-scale competition is taking place at one of Russia’s leading universities, which actively seeks out and supports talented young people and trains the next generation of highly qualified economics professionals.

I wish all participants success as your creative abilities are tested alongside your knowledge of economics. I also hope you make new friends, since the Olympiad is, above all, a gathering of like-minded people.
